MissouriNew Developments (updated 5/22/03) Riverboat gaming legislation (2003): Senate Bill 0285, sponsored by Sen. Patrick Dougherty (D-St. Louis City), would repeal the authority of the Missouri Gaming Commission to enforce a loss limit at riverboat casinos, which is currently set at $500 per person per gaming excursion. The measure was scheduled for a February 25 hearing before the Senate Ways and Means Committee. House Bill 147, sponsored by Sen. Thomas Albert Villa (D-St. Louis City), would eliminate the loss limit at Missouri casinos and restrict the number of gaming licenses to the number in existence on August 28, 2003. The measure was referred to the House Tax Policy Committee. Legislature adjourns, casino loss limit remains: The Missouri General Assembly concluded its 2003 regular session on May 16 without passing legislation to eliminate the loss limit ($500 per person per gaming excursion) at Missouri casinos.
